A club for women founded in 1892 for the purpose of studying the people, politics and cultures of other countries. The club was organized by Florence Breeden at the suggestion of her husband, the Rev. Harvey Oscar Breeden. Harvey Breeden had previously established the Prairie Club of Des Moines for men. The Tourist Club was one of the charter members of the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs (1893) and joined the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1895. From the description of Reco...
